A Hypnotist in Berlin

I love this city, probably because I don’t live here and have the good fortune of not having to pay for a room when I visit. For me it is always exotic, with bottle shops on the corner showcasing hundreds of beers and a table to drink them at, and the excellent moustache game playing out in the street.

I hear it is expensive and getting more expensive, which seems to be the fate of all the capitals of the world. Visiting London can feel like tending a friend in an advanced stage of decrepitude; there’s love there and we remember things of a more lively time, but I’m always wondering which of his faculties will be gone by my next visit. Berlin feels like it is in an earlier phase of decline, still a mixing pot fermenting and fizzing, its putrefaction giving rise to interesting alkaloids…

Once upon a time at Occulture conference here, I did a little act of magic for one of the punters and sold him a book, which he took to the park to read. An elderly stranger took an interest in that handsome book (and perhaps the handsome fellow reading it), so she started talking to him and discovered a fellow Brazilian. Then her daughter arrived, and the three of them decided to go for dinner. My reader and her daughter were playing footsie under the table by the end of their main course, and three years later I received an email announcing the birth of their son.

I asked him to write me a review on Amazon… maybe I should ask him to get me a date too.

Events

This week I’ll be running group hypnosis sessions at Moos for the Music, Magic, Medicine series, and my intention is to record a series of hypnotic inductions for download as well with my friend Sam Waks, the music producer putting on the event.

After that we’re switching up the vibe a little, going from raver to rabbinical to do a class at Hillel Deutschland, a Jewish learning institute looking into the Hallucinogenic Torah.

Then we’re getting occult at the Fool, which is a lovely event space and magick shop decked out with all kinds of creepy potions and idols. They enjoyed the beginners hypno-magick sessions I ran last time I was here so they invited me back for an advanced class on imagining the future and the art of persuasion as a means to make it happen. I’ll be doing three events there before heading back to the UK for the second in my series of group hypno events in Hastings on August 24th.

There’s loads going on! I’ve just launched my new website and I’m working with an agent to organise my gigs, so it’s a good time to sign up to the mailing list so you can keep up to date with what’s happening.
